Years ago, we didnât have the luxury of being able to decide whether we wanted a lightweight vacuum cleaner. A vacuum cleaner was a vacuum cleaner so the possibility of a lightweight vacuum cleaner was inconceivable.
These days however, lightweight vacuum cleaners are immensely popular and I think there are several reasons behind this surging demand:
Advances in vacuum cleaner design and technology
First and foremost, advances in manufacturersâ vacuum cleaner designs and technologies means vacuum cleaner parts have become smaller and lighter without compromising on performance. Lightweight vacuum cleaners are made from plastic, which is strong yet very lightweight. Every lightweight vacuum cleaner is also designed to keep the total weight to a minimum. For example, on onboard tools are now either two or three in one, and hose and cord lengths are kept short. Itâs advances such as these that have enabled lightweight vacuum cleaners to hit the shop shelves, and ultimately, the floors in our homes.
Aging population
The UKâs population is aging at an incredible rate. The over 80s is the fastest growing age group and there are now more people over 65 than under 16. An aging population in turn is carving demand for a new range of lightweight vacuum cleaners that make daily tasks easier.
Many people over 65 would prefer to buy a lightweight vacuum cleaner because they make pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying easier. Manufacturers in turn are responding to this demand with expanding and exciting ranges of lightweight vacuum cleaners, giving customers more choice than ever before.
Smaller homes
As land for building becomes scarcer, so are houses getting smaller. Vacuuming in small rooms however is more difficult because you have less space to manoeuvre the vacuum cleaner. Many people therefore are choosing to buy a lightweight vacuum cleaner because they are smaller and easier to manoeuvre in and around awkward spaces. The smaller, more compact size of lightweight vacuum cleaners also makes them easier to store.
Three storey homes
The shortage of land for building and the increase in people extending rather than moving has also lead to more three storey homes. Many customers however are finding carrying vacuum cleaners up and down flights of stairs difficult, so rather than straining, theyâre opting for a lightweight vacuum cleaner.
Caravan and holiday homes
Lots of people now have a caravan or holiday home to which they can retreat when they get chance to have a well-earned rest. Most caravans and holiday homes however donât have a lot of space, so a lightweight vacuum cleaner is the perfect solution because they are so compact. Whatâs more, most people find vacuuming with a lightweight vacuum cleaner easier in space restricted areas so investing in a lightweight vacuum cleaner makes vacuuming that little bit more enjoyable.
Increase in annexes
With the dramatic rise in property prices, many people are now choosing to build annexes rather than move. The majority of annexes however are relatively small and the cost of having two vacuum cleaners, one for the house and one for the annex, just isnât justifiable. Instead, many people are buying a lightweight vacuum cleaner, which is easy to use and easy to carry from one building to another.
